Senior SDET Project Manager

Overview:

The Senior SDET Project Manager serves as a strategic leader, overseeing complex test automation projects, driving quality-focused initiatives, and ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration. This role demands extensive project management expertise, strong stakeholder engagement, and a focus on process optimization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple large-scale projects, enhancing automation strategies, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure efficient project execution and high-quality software delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee multiple large-scale test automation projects:

    • Manage multiple strategic projects simultaneously, working with many developers per project.

    • Collaborate with multiple global dependent teams across engineering, QA, and DevOps.

    • Ensure all projects align with business goals, quality standards, and Agile best practices.

    • Develop and optimize project roadmaps, ensuring cross-team coordination.

    • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines while maintaining efficiency.

    • Coordinate scalable test automation strategies across multiple teams.

  • Drive process improvements and risk management:

    • Identify risks early, track dependencies, and implement mitigation strategies.

    • Conduct detailed post-mortems, analyzing project performance and optimizing processes.

  • Enhance stakeholder engagement and reporting:

    • Provide executive-level project reporting with key metrics and insights.

    • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, influencing test strategy decisions.

    • Ensure continuous communication between SDET teams, development teams, and product managers.

  • Mentor and lead project management teams:

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to Junior and Intermediate SDET PMs.

    • Drive continuous learning initiatives to enhance PM best practices within the team.

    • Lead efforts in scaling Agile methodologies across teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 7+ years in software development or test automation projects.

  • Proven experience managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.

  • Experience managing global test teams, vendors, and offshore teams.

  • Strong understanding of test automation, software testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Expert knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).

  • Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and risk management skills.

  • Strong executive communication skills, capable of influencing leadership decisions.

  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly articulate project updates, risks, and requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Certifications such as PMP, Program Consultant (SPC), or CSM.

  • Background in AI-driven test automation or cloud-based testing.

  • ISTQB certifications in expert test management, enterprise test automation, process improvement
